this one might be a huge stretch but is absolutely needed for a proper european future.
currently as it stands nature and agriculture is pushed to the sidelines, not really interested in by countries and politicians only when it suits them.
in short:
soil = fucked
water = fucked
rivers = fucked
light pollution = fucked
biodiversity = fucked
farmland = fucked
farmers = fucked
subsidies (also farming subsidies) = fucked
food quality = fucked
government interest and initiatives = barely existant
this is in short what is kinda happening in all of europe,
these days the EU and politicians all just have some unattainable goals that they want to hit by 2030 just so they can pat their backs and say hey we tried or look how good we are.
they aren’t serious about this.
this is further shown in how european countries handle nature, they only do something about it when it suits them. the shitty mass production subsidies for farmers still exist, land keeps being used for more and more housing while also importing more people, all the while they sometimes plead to have more done for nature.
the total farming debacle is also a shitshow, we know pesticides etc. have had an extremely harmful effect on nature and biodiversity, killing soil life, draining into waterways, landing km’s away by air.
yet no change is made. the farmers keep getting fucked over, forcing farmers not to adapt to more sustainable methods but profitable methods, furthering the problem.
and lastly that ties both together is how many countries have way too much farmland, of which the majority is just exported and then lower quality foods is imported.
showing you where the true interest of european countries lie.
money, money, money!
it’s all a façade and if we are to expect a better European future, then we need a true hollistic approach to nature (the foundation on all which is built) to be able to have a postitive future where we can have industry and nature in harmony so that we either do not destroy ourselves or create unhappy people.
i could go on and on about the problems of nature but that would make an unnecessary long wall of text.
yes this might not be profitable for a country, maybe even harmful for it in the short term.
but i see it as crucial in the long term. countries aren’t just GDP boundaries.
it is a very whimsical hope, as i do not ever see politicians or countries doing what is right.
and will be very hard to totally flip countries on it’s head with our beautiful “democracies”
but i will keep preaching for it and i hope it somewhat gives you an insight on what is also important next to economies, industries etc.
