Realign European values around making things and making it

I think more than anything Europe is suffering from an identity crisis. And since any quantitative metric is going to be gamed and become useless, so I think the best way to change Europe is through a complete reset of European identity.

It shouldn't be that hard to realign existing pan-European enlightenment values (of 17th-18th century people who mostly didn't need to work for a living) with value creation. What I mean is that making - whether that is a baker, a violon maker, a construction worker or a tech entrepreneur - should be celebrated as the pinnacle of European self-expression and identity.

And that success should be redefined as building the best - most valuable & useful - things. If we can use this as a core operating principle around which to rewrite our laws and policies, we should be all right.
