Make international law reciprocal.

Russian oligarchs park their money in our legal system because they know it is protected and international law is on their side.

However, zero such guarantees exist for European investors with assets in Russia.

This goes for Human rights (affecting immigrants with their passport), Market access (most europeans are not allowed to buy property in Africa), Extradition, Geneva conventions (EU armies have to follow the rules of war while the enemy flagrantly violates them all), treatment of prisoners, carbon credit fraud, ...

It goes for commerce such as extorting bribes from foreign companies, naked protectionism and others.

Foreign dictators see our rule-based world as a weakness to exploit and potentially profit from and they are sadly not wrong but they should be.

For foreign passport holders, we should make our legal protections subject to reciprocity and scale it up and down depending on the counterpartiesโ€™ adherence to the agreed upon rules.
