Install Ministries of Democratic Improvement

Democracy is not a finished product. It is flawed and inefficient. Many people in Europe do not feel represented by their national and European governments. It is also clear that the current political system incentivizes the wrong type of people to pursue a political career: people who crave importance, power or public status and people who think they have the answers. A good democracy facilitates self-rule, good democratic governance means asking the right questions in stead of claiming to have answers. It is an incredible difficult challenge, which may never be solved perfectly. But it can be improved. And so we need to work actively to improve it: we need to experiment and learn and iterate to make democracy work for people. There are many ideas: civil councils, decentralized democracy, commons, expanded voting options. Let’s make it an official point of policy: improve democracy!
