EU patents: One-year grace period for patent filings

Let’s face it, filing patents sucks and costs money.

But somehow, if you disclose it to a potential partner (or to anybody really) you lose the right to file a patent claim for it which is overly strict.

In the US you have a one year grace period to file the patent after disclosing it.

That’s enough time to socialize the ideas and figure out if it is worth the cost to file the patent.
