It takes over 17 years in average for the opening of a new mine, and that is when excruciating regulation and all pervasive Nimbyism allows for it’s opening.
This hurts our blue collar workers, hurts european industry, increases our strategic dependency on hostile nations and in general is yet another factor in european decline.
It would not be particularly difficult to cut regulation, in particularly limiting the ability for NGOs to challenge the opening by going through the courts and by moving from a “denied unless proven safe” to a “safe until proven dangerous model” and the benefits would be immense.
