Two tweaks (and I think this is what the proposal was aiming for):
1) Make it the only official working language in EU institutions, enough with French no one understands
2) Make it an official language in all EU countries. So that everyone has the right to interact with the government in its different forms in a common language

This is mandatory to create a big market and not 25 independent / isolated markets.

Yes! This will make interaction across countries easier.

This would help getting global talent and can make it easier to learn from US companies.

Why silly? There is too much friction as a result of multiple languages. Just accept that english is technically superior like Singapore did.

There’s no value in this proposal. Before World War I, Europe had a cosmopolitan mindset, where people could and would move freely across borders, with much less regulation than today, trading goods and knowledge. Different languages (and cultures) were never a barrier for free cooperation and trade.
On the contrary, different cultures are different environments which support different ideas.
Then, by free cooperation/trade, individuals from different cultures exchange knowledge, which probably wouldn’t exist if they both lived under the same culture.
There are amazing expressions in french, latin, and others that have no par in english, such that even english speakers use it.

Thanks to AI technologies, language diversity will lead to less and less friction in the future. This is a decent proposal, but it is restrictive and not aligned with the technical advancement.

You have to wait until AI crushed literally every single barrier in everyday communication (eg. at least HW device in your ear, in your phone and in your PC, with access to all corporate data, contracts, email, etc) to achieve similar results - sourcing products, services; understand legal contracts, resolving disputes; seamless tourist communication; seamless e-commerce experience; etc etc.
The real advantage of US, Chinese and Indian market is having coherent linguistic and legal environment.
To have the full effect of replacing common language in all these places would have to have AI translation integrated via Brain-machine interface - which is not happening anytime soon (for wide population across Europe).

I happen to know that the translations are already 99.9% automated. It’s not really that necessary, but putting the responsibility to produce an accurate translation on the member country might be a better way.

This is essential to create “one market”. Otherwise, it is impossible to create a big market for companies.
